Microsoft has recently been actively promoting its products to the Russian market, but it is not in a hurry to buy a personalized domain in the ru zone.

Meanwhile, the domain msn.ru for about four weeks as "went on sale" - this was announced by an advertisement posted on msn.ru by the current owner of this domain, entrepreneur Roman Elkhadzhiev.

The entrepreneur registered a "trump" name 6 years ago, when, together with his partners, he opened MSNRU LLC - the company started developing software, in particular, creating site management systems. The MSN abbreviation indicated the full name of the company - Merchant Support Network, the domain corresponding to the abbreviation was not occupied, and nothing prevented Roman from registering it.

A month ago, however, the entrepreneur announced the sale of his business (the Merchant Support Network company), of which the site msn.ru is part, with its contents and, of course, the domain name. Thus, the domain msn.ru will soon change the owner, but not the fact that Microsoft will be new.

Roman stressed that it is selling a legal entity - a company, so the price expects appropriate. According to him, not all potential buyers are interested in the domain - there are people for whom the company itself with its achievements is of priority. Although interested in the domain name more.

A businessman told Habrahabru that of the buyers who are ready to buy msn.ru, some are going to open a casino, others are a “sex portal”, and still others are promoting their own search engine. Of the proposals already made - there are about 10 of them - Roman has not yet singled out a single one, but said that the question rests on the price. Perhaps the entrepreneur will arrange an auction between buyers - open or closed.

From Microsoft to the businessman, so far no proposals have been received. Roman Elkhadzhiev also did not take any reciprocal steps to negotiations with Microsoft, because he does not have aspirations for this. Anyway, the amount of the transaction, with whom it was not concluded, can be impressive.

The question of the estimated cost of the msn.ru domain Habrahabr inquired from Andrei Vorobyov, the spokesman for Ru-Center , a domain registrar in the ru zone. According to Andrew, the average price of good domains in the squatter market is $ 10-13 thousand, but in the case of msn.ru, the amount may be higher "by an order of magnitude". For comparison - at the auction of Ru-Center itself in 2005 the biggest deal was made for $ 8 thousand.
