Computer and car
Good day, dear users! This is my first post, so please do not kick hard.
Habr is a place for people who keep up with the times, so I was very surprised not to find here information on such an interesting topic as “computer and car”. In this regard, it was decided to write a short note on this issue. If the note seems interesting to you, in the future I will regularly cover various aspects of this topic.
So let's start:
The computer has become an integral part of the lives of many people, so why deny it in the car, there it can be just as useful as at home. Karpyuter (car + computer) can do everything:

- play any audio - video formats from any media;
- store large amounts of data on the railway (audio, video, images and the rest);
- GPS - navigation with the support of any software;
- video camera in the back, for parking, video camera in front for registration of the traffic situation;
- vehicle diagnostics, you can always instantly take diagnostic readings from the engine controller or other controllers of the vehicle’s electronic systems;
- Wi-Fi - you can synchronize with a home computer, with a laptop or go online;
- GSM / GPRS / SKYLINK - constant Internet access, you can always be on the network (ICQ, etc., information about traffic jams);
- communication with the phone via Bluetooth allows you to organize an excellent hands-free system.
In fact, the computer can replace almost any electronic device in the car, such as: radio, cd-receiver, dvd-receiver, gps-navigator, hands-free, DVR. And the main advantage can be called the scalability of the system, full configuration, the use of only what is needed and complete customization for current requirements and preferences.
At the moment, the subject of computerization of the car are mainly engaged in enthusiasts, customizing home PC or laptop under the car. Install a power supply designed for 12V, hard drives are used most often from laptops. The interface between the user and the system almost always acts as a touch-screen monitor, and sometimes a keyboard is added.
Recently, Asian companies have become interested in the topic of carpurers, offering ready-made solutions. Also, some car manufacturers began to equip their new models with full-fledged computers.
