"About IT" nastolki. The history of games with a computer setting

Board games were often closely associated with their computer counterparts (although they were older by several centuries) and they borrowed ideas, plot, design, etc. from each other. In the first part, we will look at the history of games (from the past to the present), which are not “based on” well-known computer games, but use IT as a setting to create their own atmosphere. For the most part, these games were educational, but there are exceptions. And I did not specifically mention RoboRally - this game will always be the ideal of transferring software code to the desktop world.

1. Computer Rage. Board game of 1977. About the operating system. The Player Program must go from Input to Output without being lost in the depths of the computer.

')
2. Fast forward to 1983. Before you, Computer Caper is a board game that teaches children computer terminology (and this was, yes). You have to get from the “Islands of Entry” to the “Printed Pass”, faced along the way with such landmarks as the “Hardware assembly”, “The Mountains of Memory” and “Silicon Valley” and others.

3. REM . A card game to learn ... BASIC (remember this language?) From the early 80s. Throw your Svintus (or CODEX) on the shelf and take a useful action.

4. INPUT / OUTPUT GAME . Hodilka, combining the playing field, on which you move to the finish line, and BASIC programming cards. You are given random cards of teams and BASIC conditions and from this “garbage” you need to write the best program. The game came with an additional book of LAS programs BASIC, designed to work on TRS-80.

5. Another game from the "computer" 70-80s. How to play it was difficult to say at the time of publication.

6. Moving in the present. The 2005 C-Jump game that teaches C / C ++ skills in the process of ... skiing (analogy with Gordon Bell's quote).

7. What happens if you mix Memory and computer artists? We get a board game for children from 4 to 7 years (the authors speak up to 9 years) Bits & Bites . Players must create a program for their hero, moving through the cells of the RAM to home, where they will interfere with various obstacles.

8. 2016 Coding Farmers . Crawl roll with a cube and ... Java programming. The dice rolls are complemented with Java command structures, allowing children from 7 years to learn the basics of the language.

9. Are robots armed with lasers fighting in a cage field and programmed with cards with Java commands? This is Robot Wars .

10. Battle of Golems . We study robotics and the basics of programming with the help of battles of combat robots in special arenas. Many types of commands and software designs, various types of robots, Golems and weapons, as well as a game with bots. The game has already gone through the second edition.

11. Progres . Another Russian game for programming - this time the rovers (or planetary rovers). 3D levels, lasers. commands and software constructs.

12. Potato Pirates . Card game oddly enough again on programming. They promise to immerse in a 10 hour course in 30 minutes. Potato pirates will immerse you in cycles, conditions, interruptions and bugs.
