Vladimir Putin against Google?

The Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia is delaying the approval of the sale of the contextual advertising system Begun. The fact that Google is buying “Runner” for $ 140 million was announced back in July, and it was planned to complete the deal before the end of September. But so far this has not happened, write Vedomosti.

The representative of the FAS told Vedomosti that the consideration of the Google application was postponed to October 22. The previous review was on September 22, but the department needed new documents. What exactly, the FAS is not reported.

Alla Zabrovskaya, director of public relations for Russian Google, says that she is not aware of the postponement of the review: “We have provided FAS with all the documents and are waiting for a decision.” The general director of Runner, Aleksey Basov, is confident that in the end the deal will be approved, since it is useful for both the company and the market.

However, "Vedomosti" put forward the version that the story has acquired a political connotation. According to the manager of one of the media companies close to Runner, the president’s administration is dissatisfied with the deal. They suggest that the shareholder Rambler (“Prof-media” Vladimir Potanin) cancel this transaction altogether.

According to the source, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin personally expressed his dissatisfaction with the deal.
