Why do I need a contact list?

At first I thought that I had invented a genius, then I realized that I had already seen it in the beta version of Skype. I do not want to have a separate contact list and message box. What for? First, remember whether the message window is already open or not, then find it in the contact list, then click - open it, go to it and only after that start writing. And just - you just need to combine the tabs of the message box and the contact list:



And of course, a search in a huge contact list - look through it and look for it - yesterday.
But maybe something like this already exists and everyone is using it, and I alone use all sorts of buggy Pidgin and killing a lot of time to set up Miranda?
