New Sony Reader PRS-700. Now with touchscreen

Sony will release a new device for reading electronic books based on E-Ink technology - Reader PRS-700. The main innovation of this reader is a 6-inch touch screen.

Now users can turn pages just by swiping with a stylus (or finger) on the screen in one direction or another. There is even an on-screen keyboard with which you can enter notes. It will also be useful for searching through text. In the new Reader PRS-700 will be LED-backlit, which will read in the dark.

There is no exact information on the internal memory yet. Sony just mentions that it will be the same as in the previous product - PRS-505 (about 350 books in electronic format will be enough to store on average). To expand the memory provides support for SD cards and MS-Duo.

In a press release, Sony does not specify a list of supported formats. I suppose that it will not differ from that in the previous model. Batteries, according to the manufacturer, enough for 7,500 page updates.

The cost of Reader PRS-700 will not be much more expensive than the previous model and will be about $ 400. The device will be available in late October - early November.
