As it was planned, on September 30, I passed the testing of the localization quality of Russian Visual Studio 2008
that I announced earlier .
Not everyone was able to come to the office for testing, however, those who were able to do their best and offered several hundred comments and comments that will be sorted out, sorted, translated into English and sent to the Visual Studio 2008 localization team over the coming week. It is possible that not all comments will be taken into account, since quite a bit of time is left before the release of the Russian version, however, these comments will be taken into account when updates are released and, sooner or later, will be implemented.
The results of the questionnaire survey of participants are very interesting, they noted that they liked the event very much, but in terms of the quality of localization we still need to work and work - if the localization of the Visual Studio interface is successful, then the documentation library has yet to be improved. A very expected result, taking into account the volume of translated texts and the translation process (initially machine translation was carried out, after that all texts were read and corrected).
For beauty, I bring graphics (a total of 18 questionnaires were submitted).

In addition to assessing the quality of localization, participants were asked to suggest improvements in Visual Studio as a whole - the most popular request was to improve IntelliSense for JavaScript and C ++. It seems to me that in the next version of Visual Studio 10 we are waiting for significant progress with InelliSense in JavaScript. Very soon
we should find out about everything .
We at Microsoft really enjoyed the experience of such testing and we will repeat similar events in the future. Unfortunately, I personally was only able to glance a few times for testing, because I was on the other side of the city,
telling "behind Internet Explorer 8" . I hope that the participants were not up to me, because they had Russian Visual Studio 2008 in their hands.
After we select the most useful comments, the author will receive the promised prize - a watch with symbols from Visual Studio. While no one has such a clock, only a very limited number will be released.
In addition, as a result of the event, two very interesting posts appeared, for which a special thank you to their authors!
Dear readers, what else would you like to test in the same way? You can submit an idea to other departments :).
