Advertising - engine or scarecrow?

Like most of those who grew up in the USSR, I’m not very good at advertising. Well, that is, I perfectly understand that it is impossible to do without it. Specialized advertising, with a specific audience, from time to time I look through it with interest (if I enter this audience, of course). And I simply ignore consumer advertisements that hit “across squares”.

She doesn’t cause active irritation in me for a long time, but when ad units appear, I automatically switch the TV or receiver to another program, and I don’t see stupid billboards and banners. That is, I do not notice at close range, without any prejudice.

Advertising on the Internet, too, so far perceived as an inevitable evil. And contextual advertising of Google even entertains sometimes, in some forums it has already become fashionable to compare the topic of advertising with the topic of discussion (such as “The terrible facts of parasites” in the topic “For whom to vote?”).

But now in RuNet, in my opinion, another wave of advertising mayhem is rising.


For half a year I did not go to RBC to read news because of the sudden pop-up flash videos (in the best traditions of porn sites) with some kind of cars. Now he began to look again, especially when there was a collapse of the Russian markets. Rollers with cars there, it's true. But they came up with a new, absolutely schizophrenic method.

I read the text. The advertising banner at the top of the page traditionally hits me on a blind spot (yes, this is the strange physiology of these Russians;) - I don’t see it. But it suddenly expands and captures the half-screen. The text that I read, respectively, goes down, off the screen. Banner monster shows some acid cartoon, and then shrinks again. My reaction, naturally: “WHAT IS IT? !!!!” And I don't even remember what the cartoon was about! Honestly.

In general, I again removed the RBC button from the panel, until better times. But I still want to keep abreast of events.

I follow the link to the website of the Vedomosti newspaper - I only need one very short news there. First impression: did not get there. Instead of the text, I see some hedgehogs in some fruits (well, at least I remember it so much - that there really was, even if you kill, I don’t remember). Then it comes that this is an advertising screensaver. The gaze finally focuses on the gray text “skip screensaver”. Naturally, I press. Nothing happens. I shake again. This is not a link, this is not even a dummy, this is a setup: clicking on the label leads to the screen saver being shown again!

Here is another site got on my personal blacklist. Citizens advertisers, well, not the same! What do you teach there at all? !!!
