Microsoft Russia

After the previously announced testing of the Russian-language version of Visual Studio 2008, which is scheduled for release on October 28, I have some time left to walk around the Moscow office of Microsoft. The testing itself, by the way, took place in the most open setting, it was an opportunity to talk with employees on any topic.

Since the MSDN translation was originally machine-based (with subsequent verification by professional translators), it was easy to find a lot of errors in it. Although in general, everything is localized very well, with particular attention to Microsoft reacted to the terminology. As a result, the one who found the most mistakes (91 pieces) received a cool wireless keyboard with a mouse, and the rest were also given the promised gifts - a set of 8 books in a severe box with the words “Developer’s Equipment Kit”, a cup and a pen. We worked here in a room specifically designed for such events:

Let's return to the promised excursion around the office. It is located in the business center of Krylatsky Hills (several low glass-lined buildings, to which every 10 minutes, or even more often, there is a free shuttle bus from the metro). To my surprise, the office (or rather its part on the lower floors, I did not go upstairs) was not very large, although there was no lack of free space anywhere. At the reception - so generally open space:

Racks with booklets and newspapers, where now without them:

On the occasion of testing here, the developers were fed lamb ribs and other tasty things (they also promised to complain to us that we had eaten a little). In normal times, there are machines with water and coffee. On the left on the wall is a map of the Soviet Union with the signature “People_Ready in all regions of Russia”:

You can eat in “Windows Vista Cafe”:

Working in the office of Microsoft can be different. You can, for example, come, sit at the small stands next to the kitchenette, and work:

But it’s better to work like this:

This can be done both on the first and on the second floor:

There are no stupid cubicles. Only large oval tables with comfortable seating. One table for one room, separated from the corridor with thick glass with stripes at eye level:

Wherever your room is located, you will not have to go far for food:

All workrooms have their own names, among which are the following:

There are not many plants in the office:

Habra humans are depicted in sufficient numbers on the walls, apparently related to the People_Ready advertising campaign:

Bonus corridor:

Before leaving you can join the books:

... and explore the company's achievements:

Thanks for the walk :)
