As for products, teenagers are considered cool: mobile phones, denim brands, game consoles and shoes. Whereas banks, travel agencies and coffee brands are deeply indifferent to them. At the same time, a brand can still become “cool”, skillfully and consistently building its marketing policy. All of this was discovered during a large-scale study among 1778 Belgian adolescents aged 13 and over to 29 years old, which was conducted by InSites Consulting in late August, commissioned by MTV Networks.

The purpose of the study MTV Networks, managing channels
TMF and MTV, was to reveal the abstract formula of the "steepness" of a product. As part of the study, 274 young people kept special online diaries describing their impressions of “cool” and, conversely, “bespontovyh” things. Then the collected data was supplemented by questioning the remaining participants, and ultimately the resulting “formula” was applied to assess various global brands in 35 different categories.
For the third year in a row, MTV Networks conducted a Cool Brand Awards based on the research. Like last year, Coca-Cola won the title of the coolest brand (Overall Coolest Brand Award). At least 10% of young people surveyed spontaneously called this brand the most "cool." Nike, as in the past year, was only in second place, and Esprit - ranked third.
The winner in the “coolest” mobile phone category (Coolest Mobile phone) was, of course, the Apple iPhone. Being a novice in the ranking, the iPhone nevertheless scored 8.3 points out of 10, leaving behind all competitors. The winner of last year, Nokia, was only in third place after Samsung. The coolest mobile operator was named Mobistar, whereas last year it was Proximus, which turned out in 2008 only in third place.
In addition, this year MTV Networks has established 2 new nominations: “the coolest movie” and “the coolest game”. The first was named "The Dark Knight", and the most fun game was The Sims.
