The British secret intelligence service MI6 began recruiting agents on Facebook . They hope that this experiment will help them find "spies of the new generation". What is meant by this is not entirely clear.
Perhaps “spies 2.0” should feel like a fish in the water, working with social services on the Internet, rubbing right into online credibility of valuable sources of information. Or, MI-6 wants to recruit users who already have a de facto certain “online authority” (for example, as the thousandth members of LiveJournal). It is very important for the special services that the agents represent the same stratum of society as the people with whom they have to contact.
Representatives of MI6 commented that in fact they use several open services to search for new employees, including advertising in newspapers and on the radio, so Facebook is no exception.
