Blake Ross joined the
Mozilla Firefox project four years ago while still a teenager. Even then, he was attracted by the possibility of creating a free browser, which in the future could become a real competitor to Internet Explorer. Thus, Blake Ross became one of the first participants in the project and one of the main developers of the new browser.
Recently, a young programmer is 21 years old, and now he is working with his friend on one “secret project”, but is still involved in the activities of Mozilla Firefox. During the recent Gnomedex technology conference in Seattle, Blake Ross gave
an interview to the local press in which he spoke about the future of Firefox, relationships with Google and other relevant issues.
At the moment, we are actively working on the second version of the browser Firefox 2.0. All who are related to this project, feel a lot of pressure. The expectations of the public at this time are very high, which complicates the task of developers. After all, the main purpose of Firefox has always been to make things easier and more convenient, and not to overload the distribution with new features, each time making it more and more cumbersome (Microsoft Office model). At the same time, everyone is waiting for new features from Firefox 2.0, while developers have focused on solving other problems: how to make the browser more stable, how to solve the problem of memory leaks, how to add usability, for example, to enable spell checking in web forms . These are all the "little things" that do not catch the eye.
After the release of the test version of Firefox 2.0, reviews about it in the blogosphere were carefully studied. Opinion geeks valued especially highly.

Blake Ross is very favorable about the new version of the competitive browser Internet Explorer 7. At the same time, he notes that Microsoft colleagues did exactly what was expected of them in order to catch up with Firefox in functionality. In general, it is not necessary to treat different browsers as a “religious” choice. These are just programs. Therefore, Internet Explorer and Firefox can easily copy each other's parts of the interface or hot keys, if this really facilitates the work of users.
Generally speaking, the Firefox community did not intend to “win” Internet Explorer, they simply solved the problems that have arisen on the Internet because of Microsoft: the prevalence of pop-up windows, spyware, adware, etc. All this is due to the fact that Microsoft has abandoned its “non-profitable product” Internet Explorer for almost five years. But the browser is one of the most popular programs on any computer.
