Rambler Media intends to acquire two new businesses. The company entered into a preliminary agreement with
eHouse holding on the purchase of a 51% stake in the social network
Damochka.Ru and the BannerBank banner exchange system, one of the oldest in Runet.
Under the terms of the agreement, 49% of each project’s shares remain in eHouse’s ownership, but Rambler Media has an option - the right to buy or sell assets at a certain price. The parties did not disclose the amount of the transaction, however, according to market participants, it can be up to $ 1 million.
Damochka.Ru, a popular portal in the Russian-speaking Internet community, determines the size of its audience to approximately 1.8 million registered users, of which about 700 thousand are active. Vladislav Kochetkov, head of the press service of
ZAO Finam , believes that Rambler buys Dam, based on commercial considerations, and with good traffic-support from the new owner. In the meantime, “Lady” - the site, in his opinion, is still “niche” - compared to the indicators of the dating portal
Mamba.Ru , partly owned by “Finam”, attendance of “Lady” is 30 times less.

The purchase of the BannerBank banner system, according to Kochetkov, is dictated by other motives: "Most likely, Rambler will advertise himself." After all, other players,
Yandex and
Mail.Ru , mostly control the platforms with a wide audience, and Rambler will not be let in there. Therefore, BannerBank was chosen with its coverage in 60% of Runet’s audience.
“Damochka.Ru is quite a pretty“ living ”resource, although I think that at the moment it does not earn a lot of money, but it has potential,” says Anna Artamonova, vice-president of marketing and PR for Mail.Ru. - It will be interesting to see how Rambler will be able to “dissolve” it with its own
“Planet” , since the projects, in my opinion, are essentially competitors to each other. As for the “Bannerbank” - a very old, neglected, one can say “half-dead” project. In my opinion, it will be quite difficult to reanimate and bring it into a decent look. It is unlikely that Rambler plans to seriously engage in its development, most likely they will simply use the remnants of its advertising opportunities to promote their projects.
Recall that Rambler Media is an integrated media company that provides Internet, mobile and television services for Russian-speaking audiences. The Rambler Media group of companies includes an Internet portal and
Rambler.Ru search engine,
Rambler TV channel,
Lenta.Ru information site, Rambler Telecom Internet provider,
Index20 advertising agency and Rambler Interactive group of companies of mobile technologies and content.
