Only this IMHO is no longer Alpha, but Beta, for I remember that the last time at 8.04 the color of the GDM and the wallpaper changed in the Beta version.

GDM window has become darker.
Gnome updated to version 2.24.0 (build dated 09.22.08, distributor Ubunutu)
Kernel up to 2.6.27-4-generic

Fox has new rights.
