Flock Browser Public Beta Released

Startup Flock released the first public beta of its innovative browser Flock. It is available in versions for Windows, Linux and Macintosh.

Flock is based on Mozilla technology and, one might say, is a variation of Firefox with significantly enhanced functionality. It has built-in mechanisms for sharing photos (integration with the Flickr service). The browser can publish bookmarks, update a blog, download RSS feeds and much more. All these functions are initially and organically built into the browser.

In principle, nothing revolutionary Flock is not. In fact, most of its functionality can be implemented in the same Firefox using extensions. But the fact remains: the Flock distribution is the most functional and modern browser of all. This is a program for the new generation of Internet users. In a sense, he personifies what browser developers should strive for.

You can get acquainted with the innovative features of Flock without downloading the distribution. On the screenshots you can clearly see how the possibilities of publishing and viewing photos from Flickr and Photobucket photo-sharing services are realized (so far only these two services are supported). Apparently, this is the "crown" function of Flock. Interfaces for publishing and viewing photos are so seamlessly integrated into the browser that it is a pleasure to work with them. It is unlikely that such convenience can be achieved with the help of some extensions for Firefox.

It is known that many Flock users have installed it precisely for the sake of convenient work with photo services. It is enough to specify your credentials once, after which access to the photos will be carried out automatically with one click of the mouse.

Editing blogs is also very convenient. For example, if you meet an interesting text on any web page on the Internet, you can select it and select the “Blog this” command ( screenshot ). The built-in WYSIWYG blog editor is also quite functional ( screenshot ). Integration with blogger services is just as seamless as with photo services. Just enter your account - and then update the blog directly from the browser. One interesting feature: to insert a photo into your posting, just drag it with the mouse from the photo panel, which reflects the archive of photos in the photo sharing service. All this - without leaving the browser.
