And why do I need this Enterprise 2.0?

Enterprise 2.0 is not just a toolkit, but a toolkit for collective use. In turn, the social nature of this toolkit highlights motivational factors. The implementation of Enterprise 2.0 inevitably leads to the destruction of structural partitions between departments. Employees of the enterprise are forced to leave their small social environment, although imposed on them, however, it has become habitual and immersed in an unfamiliar social environment of a large organization in which many of them feel at first not so comfortable. Something like the famous "quality circles", so characteristic of the Japanese model of relationships within production teams, is being created. However, it is not always obvious to the people of the “Western” economic culture why they should put their accumulated knowledge over the years and what they will get for it in return.

While pushing our Enterprise 2.0 project in various directions, I also came across a deep misunderstanding of the very essence of the corporate Internet concept that surprised me at first.

First of all, it refers to the CIS. For example, one of my friends, whom I tried to attract as a business broker, told me (I quote from memory): “You don’t know where to find money for ordinary social networks, but you want for Enterprise 2.0”.

It cannot be said that in the USA everyone is very well aware of what a business application of social network resources is. However, at least here they understand that if you look for money for a start-up Web 2.0 project, it is easier to do this when the name of the project includes the word enterprise or mobile.

Explaining and explaining to everyone and everyone that such an Enterprise 2.0 beast and what it was eaten with, I finally ended up on an explanatory note - a small reference book. I combined the presentation of this material in the form of model questions and my answers to them with the presentation of the ProfySpace project itself.

This kind of FAQ-reference as an introduction to Enterprise 2.0, it seems to me, well complements the article I am translating, which I already talked about in Habré (for the translation of the second section, see here ). In aggregate, both of these materials (translated article and FAQ-reference book) can be useful for developers of social-network resources, web investors and, of course, top managers who are considering whether to implement such tools in their companies and organizations.

I would be grateful for any additional questions, comments and additions on the submitted material .
