Mail.ru for 2 billion dollars

From Russian journalists close to the source of information today it became known about the acquisition of a 15% stake in the Mail.ru portal. This transaction raises the company's total capitalization of shares to a level of $ 2 billion, which is 30% more than the amount paid by Google for YouTube.

The shares were bought by the investment group Digital Sky Technologies, owned by Yuri Milner. The company's share in Mail.ru now stands at 50.6%. Let me remind you that Mail.ru is still one of the most popular resources on the Russian Internet, attracting 14.7 million visitors every month.

Quantcast traffic analyzer shows that the resource is visited monthly by about a million people from the United States. For example: the number of unique visitors to Facebook, according to information from the same resource, is almost 43 million.

Another major stake: 32% owned by the South African conglomerate Naspers . According to them, the Mail.ru portal earned $ 56 million over the past year, bearing in mind that profits in the Russian market are growing very fast or that the market is extremely overvalued.

I don’t want to seem like a hopeless optimist, but I expect the best consequences for Mail.ru from this deal.
