Linux thin client

Chip PC Technologies has released a miniature (81 x 157 x 33mm) thin Xtreme PC LX client running Linux and consuming 3.5 watts of power (the device can be powered from a USB port). Among the preinstalled programs, there is Firefox 2.0.12, media player, X.Org 7.2, Citrix ICA 10 and RDP (RDesktop 1.5) clients.

Device Specification:
- Processor RMI Au 1250 (600MHz) RISC (MIPS32);
- RAM 128 or 256 MB;
- On board soldered 256 MB NOR Flash;
- Integrated video accelerator that supports screen resolutions of 1280x1024, 1368x768 and 1600x1200, as well as hardware accelerated video processing (DivX HD and MPEG4 / WMV codecs) with a resolution up to 720 x 480.

Connectors: DVI, 3.5mm audio-out / audio-in, 10/100 Ethernet (RJ-45), 3 or 4 USB 2.0 ports, serial and parallel ports;

Xtreme PC LX will be on sale Nov. 15. In addition, Chip PC Technologies announced the release of the Linux version of the Jack PC model in the first quarter of 2009. Jack PC is interesting in that it is designed in the form of a conventional electrical outlet, on the front panel of which there are 4 USB connectors, audio input / output and a VGA port for connecting a monitor.
