I got the idea to write this habratopic right after subnotebooks gained deserved popularity.
But today we will talk about the fact that everything new is well forgotten old.
Meet my Digital HiNote Ultra II - a 1996 vintage rare subnotebook .
')
(in this photo model 1994 release - HiNote Ultra I)
(on this Ultra II)
Specifications:
Size: 48x280x230 mm
The screen is 11.2 inches 800 * 600
16 MB RAM (SO-SIMM)
2 pcmcia slots, vga output, external docking station
Intel Pentium 150 MHz (smooth)
2.5 inch hard drive in the original 1.3 GB, but I put and 10;)
Weight: 1.8 kg
Options for external modules - 1.4 dyum floppy disk or CD-Rom 6x + speakers with sound card, inputs \ outputs for headphones and microphone
Infrared - to go online
2 PC-card Type II (for adding USB ports)
3300 mA battery
Operating system to choose from: MS-DOS, Windows 3.11, Windows 95, Windows 98 \ SE, Linux SlackWare (+ experience of unsuccessful installations of Windows XP, Windows Vista, Ubuntu, Kolibri OS). I think that it does not make sense to give the characteristics of eeePC, because it is clear that this rare book will not be able to indulge with modern subnotebooks.
(Although it should be noted - a convenient keyboard, resolution 800 * 600, mechanical trackball, the ability to open the laptop lid more than 180 degrees, low heat, convenient LCD hot-key indicator, the presence of a standard 2.5-inch hard disk, LTP, COM, VGA, PC -card outputs just as a fact, removable floppy and disk drives).
But even with Digital HiNote Ultra II, you can sit comfortably on your lap, run FireFox and read Habr.
Can we repeat this trick with eeePC? Time will tell.
