Blockchain at SPIEF
1-3 June The International Economic Forum SPIEF-2017 is held in St. Petersburg - a platform for business people to talk and discuss key economic issues.
Today, within the framework of the SPIEF, the blockchain-the birth of a new economy panel session was held, in which took part Alexander Ivanov, the general director and founder of our blockchain platform Waves Platform. Minister of Communications and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation Nikolay Nikiforov, Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation Olga Skorobogatov, First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Igor Shuvalov, Founder of Ethereum Vitalik Buterin, Founder, Chief Executive Officer of The BitFury Group Valery Vavilov and other key figures of the banking and state sectors.
The session was opened with an overview of the current state of the blockchain: while the authorities of most countries are only eyeing the introduction of blockchain technologies at the state level, business has already begun to use decentralized systems.

Alexander Ivanov compared the current situation with the Internet in the 90s. Then the states and companies that integrated the Internet technologies faster than others received great advantages.
Now we can observe the development of ICO, that is, crowdinvestment on the blockchain. The idea of ICO already exists not only within the cryptocurrency community, it becomes part of the real economy. Thanks to ICO, various projects raise tens of millions of dollars a day on Ethereum, Waves platforms. This is a new and more efficient way to raise funds. Now there is a process of legitimizing this mechanism. If it is introduced into the legal field, a business will receive a huge impetus for development, since many things can be optimized from a business point of view.
The recent surge in interest in cryptocurrencies is largely due to specific events: in Japan, the regulator has recognized cryptocurrency as a completely legal asset. If other countries follow this path, interest in the blockchain will continue to grow, and cryptocurrency will increase in value.
