The Cray company, known for its legendary supercomputers, which once amazed the minds of contemporaries, is entering a completely new market for itself - the market of desktop solutions. Meet - Cray CX1 .


The new solution from Cray is also a kind of supercomputer for demanding customers. The configuration depends only on the customer himself: several so-called “nodes” are provided for selection:

- Computation node (based on nVidia Quadro FX 5600)

The nodes are also modified for every taste: the free choice of the number of processors and their power, the amount of RAM and hard disks, the presence / absence of a video card will allow you to choose a computer for any needs. The selection of components, by the way, is very similar to that when buying an Apple Mac Pro computer on the official Apple website, but for the sake of fairness, it’s necessary to say that the choice of components on the Apple website, and especially their price, is more preferable for the budget buyer.

But economy is economical, and not everyone can see the desktop version of the legendary Cray on their desk - a node with a minimum configuration starts with the amount of $ 5,886.00, and the maximum configuration of a computer will cost a little more than $ 25,000.
