Appearance
In Wanhao i3 Plus, in contrast to V2.1, the absence of a control unit is immediately apparent. In the i3 Plus version, he moved under the heating table. This makes the printer more compact, besides the frame has become more stable.

Mechanics
I didn’t find any radical differences in the mechanics of the printer. The design of the carriage is changing a little.
The airflow remained the same incomprehensible - above and to the right of the printed part. Although to be honest, not a few printers can boast of a good location and direction of airflow. The feeling that some manufacturers put it just for show.
Electronics
Wanhao i3 Plus has got an elegant cable that stretches to the extruder, instead of a bundle of wires.
This is a mixed improvement. Someone argues that the cable is less reliable than the wires, some vice versa.
Having gutted the printers, I saw that in principle there were no particular changes in the “stuffing”. Visually the same board. Only a slightly different model of the power supply.
Well, the display Wanhao i3 Plus turned out to be a simple microcomputer.
Calibration table
In all Wanhao i3, the table is calibrated using 4 points. This is wildly inconvenient and turns calibration into an exciting quest. Although finally Wanhao got comfortable twisters to adjust the level of the table.
By the way, the package includes Wanhao i3 2.1 glass. In the complete set of Wanhao i3 Plus there is no glass.
Printer management
I3 Plus has a very convenient control. If earlier it was necessary to wander around the printer menu for a long time to find the necessary item, now almost anything can be done with a few taps.
The option of loading / unloading filament has appeared. Trifle, but nice.
Compared to previous versions, Wanhao i3 Plus has become much friendlier to the novice user. This makes me happy.
But of course more eloquent than all the words - printed tests.
ABS tests
The Wanhao i3 2.1 has an undeniable advantage when printing ABS - it is the ability to close the printer with a camera.
In this case, the control unit with all the electronics will remain outside and will not be further heated. Wanhao i3 Plus, I’d be afraid to cover it with a cap.
PLA tests
It is quite good, but for some reason Wanhao i3 Plus squeezes the plastic wildly. This is already solved by customizing the slicer parameters.
Soft plastic tests (NinjaTek Cheetan)
In the end, we decided to try typing with soft plastic. In principle, everything is not bad even considering the gaps on the i3 Plus.
With such a feed, it is possible to print soft plastics, but the coil should be hung strictly on top of the printer (so that the bar is fed from above without kinks) and you have to choose the ratio of print speed, retract and feed (yield parameter) for a long time.
Total
It's nice to see that 3D printers are becoming more friendly and understandable to the novice user. Despite the fact that some of the Wanhao i3 Plus solutions are quite controversial, I think it will definitely find its niche among inexpensive 3D printers.
