BYD auto - the company that overtook Apple
Inspired by the example of one foreign lecturer in St. Petersburg (open lecture on innovation at HSE), I decided to share my vision of these interesting guys.
The Chinese auto industry is gaining serious momentum every year and is trying to occupy all sales segments, displacing European and American manufacturers. In 1995, the Chinese company “BYD auto”, which became a subsidiary of the group that produces batteries, announced the start of work in the city of Shenzhen.
In 2003, the company acquired the Tsingchuan auto-building complex and began producing its cars. Inherited from the previous owners got the model "Flyer", which was produced under the brand BYD in parallel with its own developments.

The iconic F3 sedan brought world renown to the Chinese manufacturer and is currently being produced. During the first 5 years, more than 700 thousand copies were sold. By implementing its own high-tech developments, BYD expands its sales markets. Official representative offices are open on all continents.
In 2009, the pace of development and the huge technological potential of the company attracted the American multi-billionaire as the main shareholder of Warren Buffet. During this period, the successful development of electric vehicles began, and as early as 2010, BYD introduced the E-6 series of eco-friendly models. At the end of the year, the company occupies a leading position in the list of the most technologically advanced companies, having pressed the world giants Apple and Google. In the ranking of the most promising and dynamically developing automakers, BYD from the middle of the list moves sharply to the second position, leaving Ford, BMW and Volkswagen behind.
Cooperation with Daimler AG, which manufactures Mercedes cars, in the field of joint development and production of electric vehicles is successfully advancing.
Concern BYD AUTO is the only automaker from the Middle Kingdom, whose products are involved in the Geneva Motor Show. The company's production facilities are located not only in China, but also in Japan and Europe.
The model range includes 17 cars of various classes: sedans, cross-country cars, electric cars, hybrids and even 1 electric bus. The concern annually produces about 300 thousand units of products. Cars from BYD are comfortable, functional, safe and inexpensive.
According to experts, if the growth rates remain at the same level, the Chinese manufacturer has every chance in the next 5 years to become one of the three leaders of the global automotive industry and significantly press the well-known brands.
