Intel has released seven new processors

Intel has released just seven new processors series Xeon 7400, made on 45-nm technology. According to company representatives, these chips are focused on the high-performance server segment and provide a new level of performance in demanding applications and virtualized environments.

The flagship of the new series was the X7460 chip, operating at 2.66 GHz, equipped with a 16-megabyte third-level cache and a 1066 MHz FSB bus. Most new products in the E series: 2.4-gigahertz E7450, E7440 and 2.13-gigahertz E7430 and E7420. Of these, two models (E7450 and E7430) are chips with six cores. The economical series also added six-core L7455 (frequency 2.13 GHz, cache L3 12 MB and TDP 65 W) and quad-core L7445 (with the same characteristics as L7455. TDP is 50 W).

High energy efficiency is achieved through the use of Intel 45-nm process technology using an insulator with a high dielectric constant (high-k). And for a smooth transition between platforms based on the previous Core microarchitecture, the present and the next generation, the new chips use the Intel Virtualization Technology (VT) FlexMigration technology. In Intel, they note that in some cases new processors are 50% more productive than previous generation chips.

Prices, of course, bite. The cost of new processors (a batch of 1000 pieces) ranges from $ 1,177 to $ 2,729 (depending on the modification).
