Geektimes: massive cuts

We conducted a planned revision of the hubs at Geektimes and share its results. In short: reduced the number of hubs not to the detriment of the thematic framework of the project.

Before the start of the audit on Geektimes there were 128 hubs, after it became 103. List of changes:

- Get rid of the hubs that bore the names of companies and projects. The following hubs such as Adobe, Apple, Bing, Google, Mail.ru, Microsoft, Mozilla, Rambler & Co, SAP moved to the hub of IT-company , SUN Microsystems, Yahoo and Yandex. These hubs historically migrated from Habr, but we thought and decided that it is not very correct, that some companies have a separate hub, and some - not.
')
- Similarly, the content of the hubs Facebook, VKontakte and Twitter moved to Social Networks and Communities .

- “YouTube” and “Gmail” moved to the “ Cloud Services ” hub.

- The content of hubs “iPhone” and “Blackberry” was transferred to “ Smartphones ”, and “iPad” - to “ Tablets ”.

- “Geektimes - Announcements” moved to the “ Geektimes ” hub.

- "Sony PlayStation" and "Microsoft Kinect" were together in the hub " Game Consoles "

- The hub “Wikipedia” was renamed “Wiki”, and the hubs “Wiki-technology” and “Mediawiki” from Habra moved entirely into it.

- “Augmented Reality” was renamed to “ AR and VR ”, and the hub of “Stereo Image” also moved to it.

- Hubs “Cases and Power Supplies” and “Cooling Systems” moved to “ Iron ”, and “Electronic Books” - to “ Gadgets ”.

- The hub " Decentralized Systems ."

Formulas

Could not fail to mention that Geektimes also began to support the insertion of formulas. Read more here .

I am PR

As you know, we have the hub “I am PR”, the name of which we have all got used to for many years. According to the rules of the site, all advertising publications should be placed in it (about a product, service, service, event, etc.) - if the user has the necessary karma. All “advertising” materials, which users initially place in thematic sections, are transferred to it.

The problem lies in the title: the personal pronoun “I” is not always appropriate (for example, if the author talks about an IT conference, that is, he shares with the community useful information about an event that he has nothing to do with), but the word “ PR is "initially some kind of disregard and causes negative associations. And after each transfer of the publication to the hub “I am PR” (and this happens every day), our support service gives rise to approximately the same explanatory dialogue, after which some authors still remain unhappy.

We are thinking of a new name for this hub, and therefore we turn to the collective mind for advice. Something is needed that is not very long, universal, without the pronoun “I” and so that users do not have the thought that the hub is dedicated to advertising technologies. For example, "With elements of advertising", "Not without advertising", "Contains advertising", "With the taste of jeans", etc.

That's all. If you have dizzying ideas and suggestions for creating new hubs (or optimizing existing ones), write in a comment or in a separate form ( on Habré / on Geektimes ).
