The new MT2533D chipset will provide crystal clear voice and music transmission, which, in combination with the ARM Cortex-M4 processor, will enable all functions of smart devices.

Las Vegas, USA - January 4, 2017 MediaTek announced the highly integrated MT2533D chipset, designed for smart devices, various types of headphones and headsets and devices with a hands-free function.

MT2533D is designed for wireless headphones and car hands-free devices that provide users with high-quality sound, both incoming and outgoing. Also, the MT2533D is ideal as a base for stand-alone headphones for athletes or travelers, as it supports independent MP3 playback without the mandatory presence of a smartphone nearby. Such devices can offer users more than 1000 tracks, using up to 4 GB of external memory.

“The MT2533D, combining low power consumption and wide opportunities, is the ideal basis for creating smart headphones and headsets, wireless devices and hands-free solutions on its base,” said JC Hsu, vice president of strategy and automotive technology from MediaTek. “The combination of advanced audio technologies and low power consumption opens up new opportunities for innovative solutions in the smart headset market.”

The MT2533D includes a low-power analog interface (Analog Front End (AFE)) and a digital signal processing processor (Digital Signal Processor (DSP)), as well as an energy-efficient ARM Cortex-M4 processor, 4 MB of memory (PSRAM and internal), and a dual Bluetooth radio module (2.1 and 4.2 Low Energy).

To support applications that require special attention to sound quality, the digital signal processor is equipped with 128 kb IRAM, 250 kb DRAM and 96 kb SRAM, which ensures the performance of various speech enhancement algorithms. Also, this processor supports dual noise reduction technology using a microphone (Dual Microphone Noise Reduction (DMNR)) and third-party software for audio signals. It also supports the A2DP advanced audio distribution profile, the HFP profile, Advanced Wireless Stereo and MP3 playback.

Whether you are listening to music, taking a conference call or talking from a car, the MT2533D provides high-quality sound with minimal power consumption. The chipset can also serve as a microcontroller for other applications, such as, for example, a biosensor. In addition to additional communication (for example, Wi-Fi), the chipset provides interfaces for the screen and camera using the SDIO standard.

MT2533D is one of the series chipsets supported by the MediaTek LinkIt breadboard for real-time operating system (RTOS). Key features of the board:

The chipset will be available for developers in the first quarter of 2017.
