Chrome browser contains open source Microsoft.

Scott Hanselman, Microsoft's senior software manager, in his source code weekly blog series, spoke about a curious case in the practice of developing free software. The already well-known Google Chrome browser contains the Windows Template Library. It is needed to implement the user interface in Windows, but may be useful in other operating systems. Back in 2004, Microsoft released the library "to the will" under the MS Public license, the essence of which, according to Hanselman, is expressed by the words "have fun, but don't call, if something goes wrong."

Finding WTL in the public domain is not difficult - it, with all the guts, lies on Sourceforge.net. The library is a kind of "lightweight" version of Microsoft Foundation Classes . It is convenient to use it in small programs where you can get by with standard controls, dialogs and ActiveX. However, today WTL, like MFC, is considered by Microsoft itself to be outdated technologies. They were replaced by Windows Forms.

The case, of course, is curious only by the names involved in the story. But he once again shows that not the gods are burning pots, and questions of politics can still recede before common sense.
