Lightning Network and zkSNARK algorithm - the next Moscow Blockchain Developers Meetup will take place on Thursday

Already this Thursday, December 22 at 7 pm, the second meeting of the Moscow Blockchain Developers Meetup will take place. Our previous mitap was devoted to authenticated data structures in blockchain systems and the Bitcoin NG protocol, which allows creating 2 types of blocks and significantly increasing the speed of blockchain operations. The topics for the upcoming meeting are the Lightning Network technology and the zero -knowledge proof protocol Zero-knowledge proof .

At the event will perform:

• Alexander Pankov with the theme: "Lightning Network and Bitcoin scalability."

The most acute problem of Bitcoin is scaling. One of the most breakthrough solutions is the Lightning Network technology - a decentralized network of micropayment channels, which allows a chain of channels to transfer bitcoins between participants bypassing the blockchain. The technology is interesting primarily because it does not just give a solution to the problem of scalability, but creates essentially a new platform with an unlimited number of very cheap transactions.

The report will also address the problem of segwit activation, and considered various scenarios for the development of the situation, including the pessimistic one, when, due to the egoism of individual participants, the Bitcoin network will be put at risk by the fork.

• Alexander Garkusha with the report: “Zero-knowledge proofs: from simple protocols to zk-SNARK”.

The most technologically complex currency Zcash is based on the algorithm zkSNARK (Succinct Non-Interactive Argument of Knowledge). It is hardly possible to analyze this algorithm without defining the basic concepts related to zero-knowledge proofs:

- Completeness
- Protocol correctness,
- PZK,
- CZK,
- SZK,
- Simulator
- Transcript.

During the event, the above terms will be supported by an analysis of examples of non-interactive protocols, the differences of proof of knowledge from the argument of knowledge. Separately, the speaker will focus on the classic ZK-protocols (Schnorr, Fiat Shamir and all the others). At the end of the report, everyone will be able to come home and tell their loved ones who are not versed in the subject of what evidence is with zero disclosure.
