The scam on World Shopping Day is vivid

This week at Geektimes there was a publication with a statistical analysis of changes in the price of goods on AliExpress on "World Shopping Day" 11.11. On it with a fair discount only a quarter of the goods were sold. And I accidentally looked there less than a day before the start of the sale, and noticed at once several methods of deceiving inattentive buyers.

Product and Disclaimer

For clarity, all the examples used one product - the recently released model of the monowheel. This is not an advertisement for a model or manufacturer, so optional parts of a photo are cropped.

Option 1. Just multiply the price by 2.

Yes, we just stupidly take and multiply. For sellers in Russia, this model costs about 60 TR, so it’s very funny to see price tags like this:

The resulting discount price is comparable to the offers of the same model from other sellers, and in the statistics from the publication above, this product can fall into the section “insignificant discount” or “fake discount”
')

Option 2. Add a completely different, but cheap product

On AliExpress, goods may have options - the same lot of different colors, with different accessories, etc.

A little ingenuity, and we have in one lot a new model 16 '' wheels and an older model 14 '' wheels. The lowest price is for the cheapest model, it works like a bait. And the buyer may, by inattention, buy a completely different monowheel, or, by choosing the desired model, he can psychologically accept a higher cost. Moreover, such a trick is not caught by statistical analysis.

Option 3. We increase the cost of delivery

Different lots of the same monocolice can be delivered free of charge, cost around 1000 rubles, or more than seven thousand!

If here a 16 '' model will cost, as it is now, 13,000 more expensive than the “bait” for 37,000, then simple arithmetic will show the price 37 + 13 + 7 = 57,000, above the average for this model. This option may also be missing in the statistics, in the publication above about the accounting of the cost of delivery is not a word.

Epilogue

Even the ancient Romans used to say “caveat emptor!” - “buyer, be careful!”. On mass discount promotions in the style of “shopping day” or “black Friday”, some goods can really be with a good discount, but there are also enough scams. Do not let your guard down!

PS If you have seen other ways of cheating, write in the comments, it will be useful to everyone.
