EMarketer Forecast for 2007

After last year’s growth of 31% in 2007, the world's largest online advertising market will grow by only 19%. Thus, for the first time in the last four years, the growth rate will fall below 30%.

As can be seen in the diagram, since 2007, eMarketer assumes a certain slowdown in the growth rate of the American Internet advertising market.

The reason is that in 2007 there will be neither a presidential election nor an Olympic Games. The year is expected to be fairly quiet, so experts do not suggest explosive growth. As early as next 2008, only due to the presidential election, the market will noticeably revive (an increase of 22%), which is also shown in the diagram.

In absolute terms, the US online advertising market will grow to $ 19.5 billion in 2007 and to $ 23.8 billion in 2008.

Although the growth of the US online advertising market will slow down a bit, this sector still remains the most undervalued, that is, companies will continue to actively move advertising budgets from other sectors here. This is understandable if you look at the overall growth rate of the entire US advertising market, which in 2007 is expected to be at the level of 3.2%, and this growth was achieved solely through the Internet.

The most promising format of online advertising is now video: here budgets will grow by 89% over the year. In terms of overall turnover, search advertising remains the most popular format - this market will increase from $ 7 billion to $ 8.3 billion in 2007.
