Developers boycott iPhone platform

Some developers, including Fraser Spears and Dave Wiener , have announced a boycott of Apple, which removed a number of programs created by independent programmers for the iPhone platform from the App Store. In particular , the program was prohibited Podcaster on the grounds that it "duplicates the functionality of iTunes."

Apple’s policy of banning software is really getting tougher and is getting more criticism. If earlier they banned programs only for technical reasons or those that “do not benefit the community” (like the notorious “prestige program” worth $ 1000, which displayed a red picture on the iPhone screen and didn’t do anything else). Now there was a precedent when Apple removed really useful programs from the App Store just because they can compete with Apple's own developments.

Such Apple actions show that the iPhone platform is not at all open and cannot be trusted. Spears and Wiener said that after these actions of Apple, they will never create their own applications for the iPhone.
