Rest to the brain after work - Cutting out with a jigsaw

As a child, my parents sent me to the artistic cutting circle with a jigsaw. I went there for a long time and made a few things. Recently, I remembered my former passion and realized that it was a wonderful rest for the brain after study and work. And the mood raises.

What can be done.

Carved boxes, shelves, vases, cups for pencils and just wall panels. For example, a few of my works:

Sconce

Writing instrument

Shelf

')
Another shelf

Casket

Napkin holder

What is needed for this?

  1. Actually, the jigsaw itself. Suit the simplest. And many, many nail files to it, because they tend to break.
  2. Machine. He will have to make himself out of thick plywood.
  3. Three-layer plywood.
  4. Pelt, needle files, rasps and the like.
  5. Desire, patience and free time.

Started.

So it all starts with the choice of drawing. For the first time I advise you to take something simpler, a panel or shelf. Drawings are easy to find by the search engine for the query "jigsaw drawings." We print it out on a printer and transfer it to plywood using copying paper. Next, you need to make holes for cutting out the internal holes. It is desirable to do this with a drill, but you can also use an awl. Install the machine with a clamp on the table and start.

The process is very simple. Open the upper clamp on the jigsaw, insert the nail file into the hole, clamp the jigsaw, tighten the clamp. We place this business on the machine. It is desirable that the jig saw file goes in a round hole in the center, so less vibration. The file runs vertically. We turn not jigsaw, and plywood. We carry easily, with a little pressure. To make a sharp corner, go back a little and expand the kerf, after which it is not difficult to make a turn.

Patience is useful to us when there are a lot of internal holes in the part, as for example, in this lid from the box:

After cutting, the parts need to be sanded, the burrs should be treated with a file, if desired, varnished. If we make a casket, we grind the sides with a rasp of 45 or 30 degrees depending on the shape of the casket. To connect the parts in the grooves I advise you to remove the top layer of plywood on the groove.

The finished product brings pleasure to both the creator and the one to whom it is presented =)
Unfortunately now sawing with a jigsaw is almost forgotten, only a few of them know about it. Kruzhkov probably right now either. But this is a very useful and pleasant activity.
