The American has created a 3D-printed gun with the ability to customize for different cartridges.

Recently, a user of Guy in a Garage posted a video on which he demonstrated his interesting development, namely: a Songbird pistol, almost completely printed on a 3D printer. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that, firstly, the gun is more reliable and durable, and secondly - its barrel is removed. That is, Songbird allows you to shoot cartridges of different caliber.

3D printed weapons have not yet become popular for two main reasons. 1. It can explode at any time in the hands of the user. To avoid such a fate, Guy in a Garage reinforced the trunk of its development with special metal guides. As a result, Songbird turned out to be more reliable, and the accuracy of the sight increased significantly. 2. The plastic case is not recognized by the metal detector, which is not in accordance with the US law on carrying a firearm. To solve this problem, metal tabs are used, which makes its wearing legal (at least until the first precedent involving this weapon).

The maker used ABS plastic to create the Songbird case, and nylon was used to manufacture the barrel. The simplest model without tabs could make approximately 200 rounds of small-caliber cartridges. After the American installed a 3D printed barrel with a metal guide, he was able to make several shots with .38 and .357 Magnum cartridges. And although after that the plastic body of the weapon cracked, its trunk was not damaged.

So the user of Guy in a Garage proved that with the help of ingenuity and a 3D printer, you can create a safe and more accurate weapon with the possibility of modification for different types of cartridges.
