Leica announced the upgrade of its famous model M8. New camera received an index M8.2. From the predecessor, the device looks different coarser notch on the body (better held in hand), as well as the logo on a black rather than a red background.

Internal differences are more serious. The 2.5-inch viewfinder screen is made of extremely scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. The shutter now works much quieter, the vibrations transmitted to the body are reduced to almost zero, and the menu has a new shooting mode - S (quick shot with preset parameters). Also improved battery and card protection from dust and moisture.
The remaining changes compared to the M8 presented in 2006 are minimal. The upper and lower parts of the body are traditionally made of brass, the other parts are made of magnesium alloy. The Leica M8.2 still uses a low-noise 10.3 megapixel CCD. The minimum exposure time is 1/4000 seconds.

A full battery charge is enough for 500 photos (without flash). Battery charging time up to 80% of maximum capacity - up to 90 minutes.
The camera is compatible with SD and SDHC memory cards up to 32 GB. As a lens can be used any model released for the M series, since 1954.
On sale Leica M8.2 will appear in October of this year. The estimated cost of the camera will be $ 5,000.
