Kenwood is not the most popular player manufacturer in our country. This is not too fair, especially since the company has
interesting developments . September 13, Kenwood announced the MG-E502 and MG-E504 - Media Keg series twin players. As is usually the case when Kenwood launches a paired product, the devices differ only in the amount of memory: 2GB for the youngest and 4GB for the older model.

Theoretically, 4GB is enough to record 800 mp3-tracks with a quality of 192 kbps (46 and a half hours of sound). Someone of this volume will be enough above the roof, and to someone it will seem insufficient. Personally, I see it very correct that Kenwood did not release another, more capacious version of the player, but simply included support for microSDHC-cards up to 8GB in the options list. First of all, this is good, because in this way the user can choose the volume he needs, and secondly, the
player kit
+ 8GB card is obviously more practical than a
separate player with hard-built 12GB.
The
official press release states that, thanks to a new
digital-to-analog converter (DAC), both models sound cleaner and better than their predecessors. There is no reason not to trust this statement, but it is worth noting that to get high-quality sound, a DAC is far from the most important thing. About this, in particular, the author of the
page about tuning sound systems at home lucidly writes.
Among other features worth mentioning six-line 1.5-inch OED-display, support for file formats: MP3, WMA, WAV and AAC, as well as connecting to a computer via USB 2.0 port.
For sound control is responsible 5-band graphic equalizer. There are also 8 preset sound modes (rock, jazz, etc.). Search allows you to find the desired song, sorting tracks by album name, genre and artist.
')
Built-in battery (Li-ion). The manufacturer claims that the battery provides 54 hours of listening (if you play Mp3 with a quality of 128kbps).
The set comes with in-ear headphones with three types of overlays of different sizes. However, the best option, of course, would be to pick up your own “ears.” Here, by the way, there is a rather old
text that has
not lost its relevance .
And the last. Since the players are part of the Media Keg series, they are compatible with another Kenwood product - the UD-E77WSD mini-system. This unit has two 20-watt speakers, two USB slots, 32 GB of internal memory, FM tuner, and can loot discs and radio programs on SD or microSD cards.

Sales start in Japan at the end of September. Approximate price of 4 GB model MG-E504 - $ 140. The two-gigabyte MG-E502 costs $ 20 less. But how much the mini-system will cost is not yet known. The UD-E77WSD will appear on the market at the end of October and will be available in two versions: black and “under the tree”.
