Library "Librusek" will be blocked by the decision of the Moscow City Court

The resource will be added to the list of blocked sites in September.

According to the decision of the Moscow City Court, the online library Librusek will be added to the list of blocked Roskomnadzor sites on September 8. The initiator of the trial was the publishing house AST, whose interests were represented by the notorious Internet Copyright Protection Association ( AZAPI ), and the main reason for blocking is the distribution of three works by different authors: Sergey Tarmashev “Drevny. Prehistory Book of the third "(genre: fiction, space, not to be confused with the cycle" Eternal "by Roman Zolotnikov), Daniel Koretsky" Who does not think about the consequences "(genre: crime, detective), Elena Mikhalkov" Gentle leaves, poisonous roots "(genre: female detective).

Access to "Librusek" and a number of other electronic libraries was attempted to restrict in 2010 by a court decision of the Central District of Komsomolsk-on-Amur for posting Adolf Hitler’s book My Fight (Mein Kampf), which is attributed to extremist literature, distributed in RF prohibited.

According to information from the portal AZAPI, the organization is methodically seeking judicial decisions to block electronic libraries because of copyright infringement. Thus, in 2015, representing the interests of the publishing house "EscMa", AZAPI achieved the blocking of "Flibusta" - another popular pirate library. Then the reason was the distribution of the book "Dandelion Wine" and other works written by Ray Bradbury. Now the association of right holders is actively fighting with the mirrors of the library, which, while physically preserving the servers and the information on them, cannot be called effective.

“We are trying to block the dissemination of any information about Flibusta,” said Azapi General Director Maxim Ryabyko. “Different methods can be differently effective, but our goal is to create as many problems for them as possible.”

The reaction of the Internet obudsmen Dmitry Marinichev, cited by the Izvestia newspaper , was unexpected:

One lock does not solve the problem, it can be solved by changing the user's mind. I am sure that if legal sites provide user-friendly, inexpensive, legal content, they will force out illegal services from the market. Lower prices stimulate increased consumption. Instead of directing budgets to the repressive apparatus, it is easier to direct this money to the development of legal services.

On the other hand, Marinichev does not reject the “repressive” methods as such, and proposes to prosecute the administrators of pirated services criminally:

As for the blocking, I am in favor of finding a developer or administrator of the site and initiate a case against him. Because these people can launch similar sites even after blocking the current one.

Since 2013, Librusek has been working on a paid subscription model. A month of access to all books of the library will cost 499 rubles, a year - 1499 rubles.
