Picasa Web Albums Update

Today, the biggest update of Picasa Web Albums has happened since their launch. The update includes tools that users really lacked, as well as some other less noticeable features designed to make our lives easier.

First, the free version of Picasa Web provides us with 1GB of disk space (previously it was 250MB), enough to store 4 thousand photographs 1600 pixels wide.

Like Flickr , we can search for open photos posted by other users. Until now, the search has been extended only to own photos and to open photos filled in by users from the contact list.

It became known that the new Blogger will use Picasa Web Albums to store photos. We will automatically see the new photos uploaded to our blogs on Blogger, in the My Photos folder, and search for them (however, at the moment, as I noticed, existing photos on blogs are still stored on Blogger servers). The titles of the albums containing photos uploaded to Blogger will correspond to the names of the corresponding blog posts.

It is also easier to embed a photo graphic or an entire album from Picasa Web Albums to your website — just copy the generated HTML code and put it on your page. Four sizes of published photos are supported.
