GLONASS will receive double

In 2007, four billion rubles will be allocated to the development of the Russian global navigation satellite system (GLONASS), which is twice as much as in 2006. This was announced by State Duma Speaker Boris Gryzlov at a meeting with the staff of the Cosmonaut Training Center in Star City.

According to him, the full-scale use of GLONASS, which will significantly expand the use of navigation services, will begin in 2009. By this time, 24 spacecraft will be in orbit.

GLONASS will serve not only domestic consumers of navigation services - for example, in January, an agreement was signed on its joint use by India.
