Modern computers sometimes appear before us in a not quite familiar version, and from time to time they are built into the tables by manufacturers. Even in 2007, Microsoft introduced the first interactive touch-screen tablet Microsoft PixelSense , which caused a very mixed response among interested users. Since then, several companies have offered their versions, including such recognized authorities as Ideum and PQ Labs .
And now our young team from France, Kineti Technologies, has decided to try to expand our understanding of what an ordinary coffee table, which is slightly computerized by enterprising engineers, can be.
The French company Kineti Technologies presented a coffee table - the concept of "La Table", which became the further development of the idea, first embodied in 2007 by Microsoft engineers in a project known as PixelSense.

La Table runs on Windows 10, providing maximum comfort when interacting with the user and the touch surface. The interaction with the shell is carried out on a very spacious 42-inch diagonal screen with adjustable tilt angle, support for up to 12 touch points and a surprisingly modest resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels today. Communication with a minimum of restrictions to the user is provided by an Intel Core i5 processor, an integrated Intel HD 6000 graphics card, 8 GB of RAM and a 120 GB SSD. Communication capabilities support Wi-Fi and Bluetooth adapters, as well as USB 3.0 ports.
With a mass design of 46 kg, the overall dimensions of the La Table are 970 x 609 x 399 mm. The computer built into the table is clad in an aluminum case and mounted on a wooden stand. Thanks to the toughened toughened glass, the screen successfully copes with its direct functions, while remaining sufficiently reliably protected from damage and penetration of accidentally spilled liquids (waterproof).
The big screen opens up brilliant opportunities for work and leisure, although the producers themselves position the concept rather as an element of the modern home interior. If necessary, La Table can be reformatted into a full screen home cinema, use it to view photo and video content by transferring them from small screens of smartphones and tablets, and integrate them into the smart home system. There is a possibility in La Table to transfer photos and video content from the table to other screens.
The novelty is available on the project website at a price of 4997 euros (about 350,000 rubles). Given the fact that the previously presented concept from Microsoft, with much more modest possibilities, was estimated at $ 10,000, this figure does not look frightening anymore.
Interestingly, Microsoft itself has been actively working with Kineti Technologies for the last 3 years and, in spite of the youth of the French team and different positions in the IT rating, is quite flattered by such cooperation.
