In 2006, computer users created 161 exabytes of data (that is, 2 to 20 degrees gigabytes). This includes any information that is somehow generated — be it text, images, video, new databases, and so on. Calculations involved a well-known research company IDC.
Experts believe that soon we will have nowhere to store information. True, in this 161 exabytes of data there are quite a few repetitions, and if the IDC workers did not take them into account, the resulting number would have been much more modest - 40 exabytes.
