In museums around the world, at concerts and before showing movies, visitors are warned about banning the filming of copyrighted objects. Often this rule is ignored.
Apple has received a patent for technology that will block illegal filming on the iPhone. For this, the company proposes to use infrared transmitters, the signal from which will be sent to the device's camera. If this technology is added to the new gadget firmware, the photo below will no longer be relevant for at least iOS devices.

In 2010, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev tweeted a photograph from an Elton John concert, taken on an iPhone. The topic provoked
heated discussions about the legality of this action. At the last concert
Prince was banned shooting, but here, as always, the
ban violated . Apple may integrate technology into its devices that will not allow this to be repeated.

In 2011, the company filed an application for a patent technology that allows you to block the illegal filming of concerts and films on devices with iOS. On June 28, 2016, this
application was approved .
To prevent illegal shooting, Apple
offered to use infrared transmitters. The frequency range of digital cameras is wider than that of the human eye - cameras can perceive an infrared signal. When receiving a certain coded signal from a device located at a concert venue, the device will not take photographs or video recordings. It is important that the technology does not require additional modules, only a firmware update is needed.
In the patent, Apple pointed out other useful features of the technology. Infrared transmitters can be installed near attractions. When photographing, they will send a signal to the phone with useful information about the object.
If Apple uses this technology, then, on the one hand, we will not be able to shoot concerts on smartphones, on the other - pointing at the camera’s “eye” monument will be enough to get information about it, and on the third, the attackers will have an extra way to enter information into device.
