Behind the working weekend, where we were not afraid of rain, nor the scorching sun, nor the surreal snow from the nearest flying willow. We read 11 lectures, progenotyped 285 people, told about the microbiota study and the genetic test for everyone and held a photo contest. Ready to share your impressions.

Genotyping
This year we took into account the weak points of the field genotyping, and at the picnic we left only the entertainment part - DNA isolation. All participants under the guidance of our colleagues collected saliva, destroyed the cell walls and released DNA. And we already took the finished samples to the laboratory, where we performed PCR. And no
agarose gel , like last year!

In total, 285 people underwent genotyping, 32.3% of the “warriors”, 52.2% of balanced heterozygotes and 9.6% of “creative scientists” who are prone to panic under stress, were identified by them.
It is interesting to compare
with the “normal” distribution : 24.5 / 50.8 / 24.7, respectively. It can be seen how the balance of our sample is shifted in favor of the “warriors” (here we all clutched at the head and went to reread the “Russian model of governance”).

Lectures
In parallel with the genotyping in our meadow we lectured. If you missed them, then we have Facebook Live posts. That's just where there is a real "live", with green branches in the frame, a falling camera, a signal that disappears from time to time. But perfectly conveys the atmosphere of "GikPiknik."
Dasha Yakovishina’s lectures about the discovery of DNA, Alexander Karasev about genes and neurotransmitters, Vlad Mileyko about the genetics of superpowers and Denis Kuzmin about GMOs were especially successful. These and other lectures can be viewed on our Facebook page.
Competition
About once a year we play a free genetic test, and this year we decided that GikPiknik is an excellent reason for this. The mechanics were as simple as possible - take a photo in the photo zone, post a photo with the tag #superatlas, wait. Yesterday we summed up the results and were pleasantly surprised: more than 80 people took part in the competition. We entrusted the choice of the winner to a random number generator, Maria was lucky, a student of HSE, an athlete, a Komsomol member and just a beauty.

Summing up: thanks to the organizers, it was great, although there wasn’t enough of the last year’s “Red Press” machines crumpled with an iron fist.
Now tell you whether you liked the lectures, as it was outside our field (we only managed to reach the hamburger), what else was interesting this year.
