Android will recognize the host by biometric data instead of passwords

Google plans to save mobile users from having to enter a password. The new system will recognize the user by a set of heterogeneous data, including patterns of its use of the system, text input, movement, location, face recognition, etc. If everything goes well, developers will have access to the new system at the end of this year, company representatives said at the Google I / O conference.

Instead of requiring users to enter PIN codes, passwords — both permanent and one-off via SMS, the system, called Project Abacus, will work out a “trust rating” based on the above data.

The first step on the road to smart authorization was the Smart Lock feature available to owners of Android 5.0-based phones. When Smart Lock is turned on, the user's device can remain unlocked if it is connected to a reliable Bluetooth device, is in a safe place, recognizes the user's face and is attached to it.

Project Abacus will constantly work in the background (undoubtedly, consuming processor power and battery power), and collect the data necessary to form an assessment of trust. Thus, it turns out that by your actions you will prove to your phone that you are really you, and the phone will try to recognize you, like a dog, of its owner.

The score will have gradations - for example, you will not need to have a high score to log in to the online game, and to work with the banking application you will need a higher score.

If the device is not satisfied with the confidence estimate, it will return to the verified password scheme. This is done, for example, in case the smartphone user drinks, starts typing hesitantly, calls his former uncharacteristically, and then sets off on an unexpected route.
