The plaintiff used the so-called "lemon law"

Lemon Law is a law that operates in various countries and is aimed at protecting the consumer. This law can be used in the case of the purchase of a visually appealing but low-quality product. Tesla Model X is a full-sized electric crossover manufactured by Tesla Motors. The prototype was first shown in Los Angeles on February 9, 2012. Commercial deliveries began on September 29, 2015. Tesla Model X is being developed based on the Tesla Model S platform. Over the past few weeks, the number of complaints about the quality of the crossover has increased significantly.

Some media published information about the problems with the safety of the car. At the same time, the tone of most reviews of the crossover on the web is positive. But some owners of electric cars are unhappy with their purchase. One such dissatisfied customer is Barrett Lyon, a buyer from California, USA. He went to court, taking advantage of the Lemon Law mentioned above.

The plaintiff wants to return the electric car to the manufacturer and receive a full refund of the purchase amount - $ 161970. Lyon claims that the flaws he discovered cannot be leveled, so he does not plan to use the car in the future.

The lawsuit draws attention to several problems. One of them is the poor performance of the Tesla autopilot in the rain. According to Barrett Lyon, a car with the Auto Pilot feature turned on in the rain wobbles along the road, moving from lane to lane. In addition, he is very unhappy with the doors of the car, which "open, hitting the neighboring cars and other obstacles." Plus, Lyon is unhappy with the poor performance of the touchscreen, which sometimes refuses to work. Yes, and the car parking function works well not in all cases.

Interestingly, Barrett Lyon is the owner of the Tesla Roadster and the Tesla Model S. He is completely satisfied with these electric cars.

Regarding the Tesla Model X, he says the following: “It’s clear to me that this electric vehicle is not ready for use. Service centers of the company are not ready to solve the problems they are facing now. ”
