Japanese company ALE Co. wants to offer their services to the organizers of the Olympics 2020 , which will be held in Tokyo. The company is developing a system for creating man-made meteor showers, the first test launch of which is scheduled for the second half of next year.

In the concept of Sky Canvas - microsatellite in Earth orbit, which contains from 500 to 1000 balls. In the fall they burn in the atmosphere in different colors. According to the company's calculations, the apparent magnitude of burning balls will be about -1 (it will look a little less bright than Sirius - the brightest star in the night sky, the apparent magnitude of which is -1.46).

The company believes that even in a large city with its light pollution of the sky, their man-made meteor shower will be clearly visible to the naked eye. Also on the site, the organizers promise that their meteors will fly and burn longer than usual, so that viewers can enjoy the show longer. And in case of bad weather, the show can be delayed at the right time.

According to the company, their artificial meteors will burn at an altitude of 60 to 80 km, and therefore the approximate diameter of the area on Earth from which this stellar fall will be 200 km. In the case of the densely populated area of Tokyo, the show will be able to enjoy about 30 million people.

To preliminarily test their system on Earth, the balls were placed in a vacuum chamber and were blown with hot gases moving at supersonic speeds, thus simulating entry into the atmosphere.

The company claims that the production of each ball will cost $ 8100 - therefore, the cost of organizing such a bright show can come close to $ 10 million (after all, the cost of the satellite itself and its launch into orbit should also be taken into account). True, the founder of ALE Co. Lena Okadzhima [Lena Okajima] believes that such a combination of scientific achievements and the entertainment industry will help draw attention to astronomy and, ultimately, have a positive effect on its development.

The main project of the company, to which Lena seeks to attract funding, is the development of a system that will allow to safely and safely get rid of the accumulated debris in orbit around the Earth. Perhaps someday, on the basis of their development, the company will be able to find a sponsor for organizing an amazing show on the colorful burning of space junk.
