2 million hacker attacks prevented the FSB in two years

Over the past two years, the FSB has recorded more than 2 million attempts to attack the websites of the authorities. 300 thousand of these attacks were sent to the site of the President of the Russian Federation. This was announced by the director of the FSB Nikolay Patrushev.

He noted that complex attacks using encryption algorithms for user data were spread on the Internet. “After a successful attack, the attackers put forward financial demands for providing decryption keys,” Patrushev continued.

An example of such a scheme, he said, is the Trojan infection of the work network of one of the backbone companies of the fuel and energy complex. “The virus encrypted user files stored in the system, as a result of which its work was blocked, which could lead to the paralysis of vital activity of entire regions of our country,” the head of the FSB said. He added that the departments of the department were promptly implemented measures to restore the system.

According to Patrushev, a special anti-virus center, which has the largest computer virus database in Russia, functions in order to provide protection against virus infection in the FSB. “Due to the effective work of the anti-virus center, no viral epidemics were allowed in the protected information resources,” a source said.
