AdBlock Plus helps users sponsor the most interesting sites.

The very moment when the ad blocker tries to help sites that suffer from ad blocking

Due to the fact that hundreds of millions of Web users have installed an ad blocker, publishers have to look for new ways to generate income in order to survive and earn something. Paywalls is one of the ways, but in many cases, this method forces the reader, who needed only one article, to leave the site, never to return. One of the perpetrators of this situation is the ad blocker AdBlock Plus. Extensions, applications, etc. - it has many incarnations, and each blocks ads in the browser with a high degree of reliability.

Now the developers of AdBlock Plus have decided to help sites that suffer from declining advertising revenue. For this, a contract was concluded with the Flattr payment system (micropayments). The payment system launched a new service Flattr Plus, which operates using another browser extension that tracks user visits to pages. The most visited pages at the end of a certain period are paid a donation, the amount of which depends on the duration and regularity of user visits. Users themselves decide how much publishers are willing to pay monthly.

It is worth recalling that the ad blocker now offers advertisers to pay a certain amount to the company for putting the payer on the white list. This is presented to the user as “a display of unobtrusive advertising.” In particular, invited to cooperate with Google, Amazon, Microsoft.

As for the new program, AdBlock Plus and Flatter will receive 10% of user contributions to publishers. Plus, the publishers will be paid only if they become subscribers of the same program - Flattr Plus. Where will the funds go to users who have decided to donate a certain amount to a site that has not become a subscriber of the service? It's not clear yet.
