In 2011, a review of 18 studies on digital addiction revealed that among adolescents and college students up to 26% of Internet addicts. But if in China this dependence is already considered as a threat to the health of the nation and is treated in military-type special institutions , in the USA there is no such practice.

Non-profit organization Common Sense Media conducted a survey with the participation of 1240 parents and adolescents aged 12 to 18 years and published its results .

80% of children check the smartphone every hour, 72% feel the need to immediately respond to SMS and messages in social networks. 77% of parents feel that mobile devices distract the attention of their children too much even during conversations. And this leads to family quarrels: 32% of children and 36% of parents admit to daily conflicts. And a third of the teenagers surveyed said that they themselves tried to reduce the time they spend on devices.

But parents are not without sin. It turns out that 56% of them check mobile gadgets for SMS and other messages while driving, while the children are in the car, and half of the children surveyed notice this. This practice is much more dangerous than a child distracted from the monologue of the mother at the table. According to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a driver with a telephone is just as dangerous as a monkey with a grenade a drunk driver.

66% of surveyed families have a rule: do not use smartphones and tablets at the dinner table. 36% of adolescents admit that they violate this rule, and 32% say that their parents violate it.
