Spectrometer UPRtek MK350N

In the arsenal of devices Lamptest.ru replenishment - St. Petersburg company INTECH Engineering provided me with a UPRtek MK350N spectrometer for the Lamptest project.



This device measures the spectrum of light and calculates the color temperature and color rendering index. In addition, it works like a luxmeter.

Color temperature and color rendering indices are very important for high-quality lighting, while the color characteristics of light cannot be measured by simple means.

To measure the spectrum, the dispersion of light is used when passing through a prism.



The resulting "rainbow" is directed to a linear photosensitive matrix, which is used to measure the spectral density of the energy luminosity of a multitude of colors. The MK350N instrument measures the spectral density of 400 colors in the wavelength range from 360 to 760 nm, builds a spectral curve and analyzes the data obtained.

The device has a touch screen and two buttons - on / off and measurement. All data can be saved to an SD card, transferred to a computer via USB cable and to a computer or smartphone via Wi-Fi (using an SD card with an integrated WI-FI adapter).

When saving data to the card, an xls-file is recorded with the measurement result and this is the picture with four screenshots.



In the Excel file, the first 10 lines occupy the calculated values, the remaining 400 lines -
measured spectral density levels of energy luminosity.



When connected to a computer, the SD card installed in the spectrometer is visible on the computer as an external drive. The uSpectrum program allows you to control the spectrometer and analyze the saved xls files.



The spectrometer on its screen shows only CRI / Ra (color rendering index, built on 8 color indices R1-R8). The program calculates the indices R1-R15 and CQS. In the near future, there should be a TM30 calculation for 99 indices.

In addition, the spectrometer shows color coordinates in systems CIE1931 and CIE1976.

With the help of the MR350N, I looked at the spectra of different light sources.

UPRtek produces five spectrometer models:

MF250N - autonomous spectrometer-heart rate monitor.
MK350N - the basic model of the spectrometer;
MK350N Plus - spectrometer with the measurement of the pulsation of light;
The MK350D is a compact spectrometer with light pulsation measurement;
The MK350S is a spectrometer with measurement of light pulsation and advanced capabilities (lux view, comparison of two measurements, measurement of parameters for phytolighting and photo-filming).

Spectrometers are professional equipment, and, as you know, professional equipment cannot be cheap.
The MK350N costs $ 1600, the MK350D costs $ 1,700, the MK350N + $ 2,200 USD, the MK350S $ 2,900.
The budget spectrometer MF250N, which does not have an SD card and the ability to connect to a computer, costs $ 900.
