Yandex has announced the release of the third version of
Punto Switcher , an automatic switch for Russian and English keyboard layouts. Half a year ago, the company completely bought the rights to Punto Switcher from the author Sergey Moskalev (one could have guessed such an outcome a
year ago ), hired him, and now she herself releases new versions.
Why “Yandex” bought a desktop program and hired a developer — quite understandable. The function of automatic switching of layouts is needed both in Yandex.Bar when typing URLs, and for correcting search queries on the main site, and for more advanced indexing of web documents on the Internet. This is an important technology in the field of computer linguistics of the Russian language. But this area remains the main (and, possibly, the only) advantage of Yandex over Western search engines.
Punto Switcher 3.0 works only on XP and Vista. The program has updated the interface, fixed errors and shortcomings of previous versions. For example, now you can change the combination of "hot" keys for the main actions of the program. Users of the third version can also perform a quick search for selected text in Yandex, Yandex. Dictionaries, and Russian and English Wikipedia.
